About the Societal Responsibility Unit

​The Societal Responsibility Unit in the college is a sub-organizational entity concerned with planning, organizing and implementing community activities. It tries to spread the culture of societal responsibility and its effective role in the development of society. Therefore, it holds various workshops to identify community needs, introduce various community programs, and then establish community partnerships with governmental and charitable institutions. In addition, it establishes social communication channels to be a window for the provided services; all of that occurs in line with the mission and vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030. Throughout this plan, the executive procedures of the unit are presented during the academic year: 1441/1442 AH

Vision 

  1. Male and female students acquire new skills that develop their individual capabilities.

  2. Promoting the concept of societal responsibility among students and faculty members.

  3. Creating volunteer opportunities for the college’s employees.

Mission

 Serving Community and developing the environment surrounding the college through community participation and research projects that serve the region and contribute to national transformation programs and the Kingdom's 2030 vision.

Goals 

The Societal Responsibility Unit aims at the following:

  1. Establishing positive and effective relationships that provide opportunities for cooperation, sharing and integration between the college and the sectors of society. This can be achieved by activating and following up the implementation and documentation of partnerships between the college and the sectors of society and its institutions.

  2. Launching awareness campaigns and social initiatives, and participating in community activities and events held in the area.

  3. Activating volunteer programs for each of the faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

Tasks

  1. Measuring the needs of the community’s institutions and individuals, and urging and encouraging the employees of the college to participate and to provide events and activities that meet those needs.

  2. Identifying the most important community issues and problems, related to the college’s programs, contributing to solving them with good suggestions, and providing applied studies for community service.

  3. Participating in the preparation and implementation of the college's plan activities for societal responsibility.

  4. Monitoring, organizing and documenting the community service activities provided by the college and the development of these activities.

  5. Encouraging distinguished initiatives that are related to community service activities and that meet the college programs and activities.

  6. Activating volunteer work in the various community institutions and spreading its culture among the faculty’s employees in a way that corresponds to the college’s programs and outputs.

  7. Coordinating and participating in the implementation of training programs and courses to provide faculty employees with knowledge and skills related to activating societal responsibility.

  8. Involving the external entities in the programs offered by the college, sharing them in making decisions related to developing the college’s performance towards the community and its institutions, involving their representatives in the college’s advisory committees, and seeking the help of experts and advisors from community institutions and individuals to support some of the college’s activities.

  9. Building effective partnerships with educational institutions at the local, regional and international levels.

  10. Preparing and constantly updating databases that include community institutions and their needs.

  11. Providing information on the services that the college can provide in the field of societal responsibility for local community institutions.

  12. Urging the faculty staff to participate in the councils or committees of local community institutions.

  13. Providing effective communication channels for the beneficiaries of college services.

  14. Evaluating the events and activities related to community service.
